Kokopee, a close friend of social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), has explained how he became caught in the middle of the disagreement between the activist and singer Davido, while responding to criticism over his alleged silence during their fallout.
Speaking amid questions from Nigerians who doubted his claim that Davido had contacted him, Kokopee said he was not involved when the two men initially became friends or when the singer invited VDM to Lagos.
He explained that he only became involved after their relationship ran into trouble, saying VDM called him to complain about something Davido had allegedly done.
According to Kokopee, he advised the activist to reach out to either Israel or Ubi to address the issue. Davido also contacted him to discuss the disagreement.
Kokopee said he tried to explain to the singer why VDM felt betrayed, but Davido disagreed with his explanation.
He added that VDM later questioned why he was involving himself in the singer’s matter, asking whether Davido had promised him a free music collaboration.
Kokopee said he eventually stepped back to avoid being accused of betraying his friend. Although he privately advises VDM to handle his friendship with Davido carefully, he maintained that he could not force two adults to resolve their differences.
Addressing those who questioned whether Davido had actually contacted him, Kokopee insisted that he never disclosed the details of their private conversation.
“I did not disclose the content of my chat with Davido, and Davido is not too big to message me,” he said.
He also hit back at critics questioning his position, declaring: “I’m only humble, not hungry.”
Kokopee further challenged those who doubted his account, asking: “I too small for Davido to message?”
